Question Used FLSTC help??

I'm going to look at bikes today. They have a 2011 FLSTC with 15,054 miles with the following add ons. Sorry about the paste but that's how it copied. Anyway, I really like the look of the pipes. I'm wondering what exactly a race tuner does and what that combined with stage 1 and those pipes will do to the fuel mileage and lifespan of the engine. Between those and the rack and a few other little things it has a lot on it I'd eventually want and some I'd want to change out soon. They are asking $17,100 for it.

So, advice on the asking price? the options? Anything else I should know or ask or whatever?

RACE TUNER, STAGE I, VANCE & HINES BIG SHOT LONGS, ***** G DERBY COVER, ***** G TIMING COVER, KURYAKYN IS GRIPS, LUGGAGE RACK, WINDSHIELD POUCH, ***** G SKULL AXLE COVER, ***** G SKULL AIR CLEANER.

Well I have the V&H BSL on my bike. I love them, look great, but they don't help you much power wise. The race tuner should only help you as far as engine life, since a stock bike runs way too lean. You might lose a little in the mileage, but not enough to make much difference.
I'm in Canada, so can't say much about the price, but don't pay to much for all those add-ons.

A race tuner, tunes Ur motor about every way (Over 2000 adjustments) that there is to tune it .

At all rpm's and different throttle positions, timing events, air/fuel, etc.. thats why they increase performance when adding motor mods.. Plus U should start better, eliminate hesitations while getting better fuel mileage.
Also if U ever do cams or BB kit all U'll need to do is retune.

Son and I have had them on our last 4 bikes and have never had a single issue with them.. We're sold on them...

The price seems a little high.. But the last two times I've been to our dealer,, there wasn't a single Heritage around..
In fact the salesman we deal with said thhe can't keep one on the floor, new or used... Street glides are the same way.. Also its close to new model time, so that may be another reason he don't have a full selection of bike.????

Thinking a new one wouldn't be much more..plus U'd get the 103..and a full warranty.

Way to many miles and way too much money.
There are literally thousands of used low mile bikes (3000 miles or less) on the market right now. I bought a "like new" 2010 Heritage with 1100 miles for $15,400 last fall and that was at a dealer. Check craigslist, Ebay etc. you will save even more. A lot of private owners just want to get out from under a motorcycle payment.....

seriously...check craigs list. I bought a '09 heritage classic with 5500 miles for $13K. I got a good deal. I saw another 09 with 9K miles for $12.5K. There are deals out there if you look.

PS...the 2013 models are coming out and I know of 2 dealerships with 2011's sitting on the floor.

LDB415:

That is just too many miles for that price.

I came across tons of used bikes at the local HD dealers that were under 5,000 miles for a lot less money. Moreover, at $17,000, you are simply too close to the price of a brand new 2013 bike with full warranty.

The add ons/upgrades are nice, but you should not even factor those in to the price. The original owner took the bath on those when he traded in or sold. Don't let the dealer sting you again for them.

Brother, if you can spend $17,000 for used, you can buy new and get EXACTLY the color you want on a machine that will have no hidden issues or wear.

Good luck and enjoy.

Mike

Just bought a 2009 FLSTC three weeks ago. 20000 on the odometer and 10000 was the price. Vance and Hines longshots and stage one. Was exactly what I was looking for. Went from a 2001 XL1200C to this. Loving every minute of it. When I figure out how to post pics I will.
