D&D Fatcat vs. V&H Short Shots.. Hard to decide for my Fatboy. I want the loud sound but I also want the performance. Really want to see where this thread goes on this exhaust choice. Thanks to all who replies...
ihad short shots on my street bob. i am waiting on the fat cat for my slim. short shots were loud no input yet on fat cats. the bob came with short shots/ power commander and air cleaner so cant say much for performance change
Also had SS on my Street Bob. They are loud and awesome. I also can't speak about the performance because they were on when I got the bike. However, most people indicate (and I've seen a few dyno sheets to prove it), that SS are not good for performance when compared to other pipes. They seem to be there for the looks and the sound.

This is what I've heard also and I put the SS on my slim. It's all relative though. The SS with a new air cleaner offers performance gains over stock but SS may not yield the 'greatest' performance gains for after market pipes.
They look and sound good though.
Also I think my fat cats leave a little to be desired on the bottom end and unless you are really building a motor to take advantage of them they may actually lose power over others.
I also think other pipes, 2 - 2 short shots for example, sound much better than my fatcats but I didn't want to deal with how loud the short shots are all the time so I just get to love them on others bikes for a few minutes here and there LOL!
If its only between the two id go with the fatcat for performance. But if your still in the air im going to recomend the bassani road rage 2-1 short. It gives 2-1 performance and gives a loud deep tone.

+1 on the Bassani. We have the Bassani Road Rage 2-1 Long on our 2012 FLSTC.
Here is a video of them on our bike.
The 2-1's have a very different sound than what most guys like in a set of 2-2's.
I also don't think the horsepower gain on a stock motor is worth the sound difference if the sound of a 2-2 is what you really like.
I regret my 2-1's a lot and wish I had gone with the sound than for some advertised power gain I don't think I will ever miss...
