6 speed problem

6 speed problem
I have an 07 heritage that won't stay in 6th gear all other gears r fine but when I shift into 6th it goes in but like it pops in and out between 5 and 6 any one else have this happen? I drained the oil and found some shavings I am in the process of tearing down just wondering what to look for?

Could be as simple as she's out of adjustment..
The shavings, I have no Idea, some pics would be nice,, are they just on U mag on Ur drain plug?.
How long did U ride her after it started doing it??
Never had the issue or tore one down.

How many miles on the bike? I havent heard of any chronic issues with the 6 spds and coming out of gear. Does it "feel" like it's going into 6th gear, or only partially going in? It could be a worn or bent shift fork.

No idea whether a bearing could be the problem here but might be worth a visit to the general forum there's currently two threads going on about 6 speed box problems, one of them is really looong, and has been going for some time.

Thank you every one!!! I bought it used with 12k on now got 20k on. I do not run synthetic in it the shaving were on magnet. I talked to local dealer he figured shift fork is the problem haven't got it tore apart all the way yet got to borrow bearing race puller I will let u know when I get it apart what I find
