Default Softail with Leaf Spring

I'm riding a 2012 FLS Slim. I love the bike stock, excluding the exhaust which I'm trying to replace. I can't help but wonder how this bike would look with a leaf spring front end. I know KIWI makes a leaf spring for Harley now. Anyone put a leaf on their late model Harley softail?

On a related note, anyone have experience with the long term suspension issues with a leaf? Are they a maintenance nightmare?

Gracias hermanos

I'll bet that would look very cool. I'd sure like to see that done.

I thought for sure there would be few folks to put in their $.02 on this topic. After all, this forum certainly isn't hurting for opinionated members.

Happy Vets Day. Thanks to all who served...

I think it would look cool as hell.

I was strongly considering buying a slim and putting a springer front end on it but i found a good deal on the xbones.

My guess is that nobody here has done it. It would be an awesome look, but it would also be a sacrifice in ride quality. With it's limited travel and no shock or dampener, it would probably be a significant ride quality loss over the Hydro front end. So it's probably just a lot less likely to be seen on a newer production model.

I love the nostalgic appeal of the leaf-spring front ends and their historical significance, but you would need a specific style of bike to really make it look right, like it belongs that way. personally, I prefer the next generation of front ends in the form of coil springs. For my Crossbones, I don't think the leaf-spring would look right. I do think it'll look better on the HD Slim.
