Heritage wheel?
The wife is wanting to off the wire wheels on her '09 Heritage. Is it best to go with the stock sizes or ??? I see Coastal Moto lists 18s as the wheels of choice. Also, any pics would be helpful just NO wires.
On a Heritage you can do anything from a 16 front and 16 rear up to a 21 front and 18 rear without any modifications. As far as what the wheel of choice is, that is tough to say. My softail sports a 21 front and a 16 rear. I figure if I am going to do wheels I might as well get as big as I can get under the stock fender.
The 18" front and rear will raise your bike about 3/4" in height. If you do a 21" front and an 18 rear you will be upa bout an inch in the front and 3/4" in the rear. There are plenty of combinations but I go for a bigger wheel as it has much more of a visual impact on the bike.
Wwe have a whole gallery full of softails. http://hogpro.com/showpage.php?page=gallery1.htm
We also have many choice wheels to choose from. If you have any questions please feel free to ask or give us a call.

I wanted to avoid raising the front end at all. I went with a Metz 130/70 R 18" M/C 638 (ME880 Marathon). This tire is exactly the same OD as the stock 16" tire. Gave me the perfect ballance of an open front wheel, but still kept some fat.

The 'rubber hitting the road' is exactly the same if you stick with the same width tire (as I did - a 130). The only thing that changes is you don't have so much of a balloon tire.

A skinny tire has less of a footprint than does a fatter tire, hence does not have as much rubber hitting the road.
A skinnier tire will probably handle better or be more reactive which is due to less of a footprint, but the fatter tire will ride better, as it has more rubber hitting the road, or as they say in the industry a "bigger contact patch".
I'm also going to 'off' the wire wheels on my new Heritage. About ready to pull the trigger on Hogpro's Black Magic Indy wheels, should look nice together with the RSD Speed 7 air cleaner. Or maybe the Primitives. They offer a deal to Forum members.
The Indy is the middle one, Primitive on the right. Any opinions?
