Default Broke it good!!

Well I have a 1998 FXSTC that has 70,000 on the clock and I do rider her hard, but she likes to be ridden hard. I changed the cam, lifters, push rods, and pipes last summer to giver her a little extra pep in her step. A friend of mine just bought a used 2001 or 2002 Wide Glide and has been raving about how the 88 will walk the EVO so I thought we would have a little go at it. I took off hard and jumped out front by a bike and a half thru first, grabbed second and extended it to three lenghts. Then as I grabbed third I hear a bang and the motor is free spinning so I pulled over and notice the hole in the front of my inner and outer primary with a chain link sticking out looking at me. Well I had it towed over to Reliable Cycles in Dallas and Randy had it tore down by that evening. I picked the bike back up Tuesday afternoon and was out the door with a new inner and outer primary, new chain, new guide, new starter bolt, and oil change for $800. Just wanted to give Randy some praise and a big Thanks!!!

Dang! That took some serious force to throw the chain THROUGH the primary.

OUCH!!! That's gotta hurt when you look down to see a hole in there. Good thing the chain didn't pile up in the rear andjam up at the clutch, lock up the tranny and rear wheel on you. That might have made it into areally interesting ride.

Yes I am very glad that it did not pile up in the back and lock up the cluth, tranny, and rear wheel. I was doing about 65 or so when I went for third and did not have my helmet on so I do consider my self lucky. It really makes me think about riding without a helmet. Now don't get the wrong ideal this is notmy normal driving habits, I usually don't get into racing my Hog but it was another Hog. lol....

Glad it didn't throw you. Knowing you are safe and unhurt I can express my morbid curiousity without guilt and say...

I'd consider that event a Kodak moment. Interested to know what it looked like.
