Default Still at war

Hello all---it's been a while since I've posted. To those who remember this newbie----yes, I'm still at war in Iraq; but only about 5 months to go.
Okay---my 06 Deluxe has been ordered and I take delivery in Jan/Feb when I get back. My plan is to go with V&H bigshot staggered along with the power commander. From reading all the posts--am I correct to say that I don't need a remap if I purchase the power commander???? Also--I keep seeing "Stage 1, etc" Is this just the high flow air filter???? Also, I saw that V&H offered a fuel management system; but it does nothing for ignition timing.

It's amazing how lost I am now or maybe it's just that I want to make sure. I'm thinking the concept is the same that I've used on all of my crotch rockets. My last one had yoshimura RS-3 ovals, K&N filter , and a power commander. I didn't remap at the dealership because the downloads from the web (power commander) did all the work. Others used the pipes, air cleaner, and a remap---but they couldn't adjust it on track days--they were stuck with the settings while I could adjust according to the track.

Thanks all!

First, God bless you sir and bring you home safe.

Can't answer the question on the power commander mapping but I'm not so sure it's even necessary..
I think they're just trying to build their market from the metrics over into the harleys.

V&H staggered is a good pipe.. Crossover does a lot of good there.. Don't sound to bad at all.

The Stage 1 Air Cleaner Kit is pretty much an air cleaner 'kit' that removes the plastic shroud on the back of the air cleaner so it can get some air, along with a K&N filter for same reason.

I'd say just a good chip and remapping is all you need.. Assuming it's an EFI (injected) model.

What Branch are you in?

My wife just last night told me about a website called http://www.operation-helmet.org/main.html which links to http://www.oregonaero.com/p81_2001.html for the upgrade kits for helmets. What are your thoughts? Can I make a difference by putting my cash there? would it help? Something you could use?

You guys and gals ARE HEROES!! Never Ever forget that! The Best of our Best!

You are correct, you do not need a remap with the PC, it takes care of that itself

Stage 1 is usually a K&N filter with a different base plate and plumbing, worth the $$ Increased intake is the advantage.

The V&N unit works similar to the tfi/dfo units in that it adds fuel, dynatec also has a unit now that does much the same except that they advertise that you can RICHEN or LEAN your mixture with it. (interesting) http://www.dynaonline.com/english/ficontroller.htm

Get home safe and THANKS!

Don't forget to post a pic of the new ride when you get it

Here's the stage 1 kit... Confirmed, it's just for better intake. That K&N is the best part.

Thanks for the opinions guys and thanks BABS for the luv. BABS; when I was here in 2003 for the invasion I was in the streets daily and that helmet system would have been like having a cold beer. I fly out of Baghdad about 4 times a month to different places in Iraq and from what I see most soldiers already have the NEW helmet system. I was issued it before I left Ft. Bragg. Those straps and pads would do good for soldiers who haven't been issued the NEW helmet that comes with those pads, etc. I'm not sure how many people don't have the new one---but when I see the old one; it's like seeing a ghost. I think there may be some guard/reserve units out there who didn't get knew ones; but I'm not really sure. Also--I'm in the Army "Mo"

Excellent! It's done then, I'm contributing. It will help someone. If I could send ya a 12er of your favorite beverage.. I'd do that too. I'm ashamed I'm just learning about how the folks back home here can contribute.. Our new little baby boy has tied up every spare moment these days. If you know where I can be most helpful for something like this, please let me know where my civilian resources can do the most good.

I tell you what. Get home safe, ride that scoot to Asheville and the first cold one is on me! [sm=americanasmiley.gif]

Ahhhh---memories---the mountains of Ashville on a crotch rocket at 100+ mph. It's worth a ride on a Harley I believe

Oh man! It's actually more fun on a hog. You get to see more than a blurr. hehe
I guess you'll appreciate the leaves a little more when you're back.

Ok, if you have a couple buddies over there that need one of those kits, point them to the website.. There's a button that says "Need a kit?" Two of them are on me.

Edit... Here's a shot from Pisgah of my old scoot and a shot from the last toyrun in 04 for some pics of home. If I can find some better pics of the parkway, I'll post 'em.

Stay safe if you can and come back in one piece. No matter what anybody thinks of your country's foreign policy, the men and women serving deserve all the respect we can give them. You stepped up to the plate and are doing what your country asks.

I tip my hat to you.

With all due resapect,
Pat
