Im a little ignorant on the subject but are HDs assembled in america? I mean i drive a Jaanese Toyota Tundra... but its the most american made vehicle as its primarily made and assembled in the US. Thus i bought a japanese car that was made (and whos jobs are in) America...
So are HDs American owned AND American made? dunno if that makes sense...

Damn, another "Buy USA" thread? As said earlier, remove all of the stock parts off of your Harley Davidson and then check back. I'll help ya out a little. You could most likely fit all of the American made leftover parts in a milk crate. I have bought a few HD parts that were American made, very few. If you know what to look for in quality you will find a lot of foreign parts that are higher quality than some American parts at a lower price.

for the record, i was under the assumption that the OP was talking about the aftermarket selection for our bikes, not necessarily HD parts.

i'm not naive enough to think my bike was made in the USA, but i do my part to buy **** for it from american companies, like the ones i listed in my previous post.

i guess you can say i'm re-americanizing my bike

My stuff is American. Most of it was custom made for me like the sissy bar, the leather tank panel and leather console wrap, my tool bag etc. Being a Union worker I know the importance of keeping our dollars here.

I'll agree that some places sells really cheap stuff. I remember 30 yrs ago I ordered some parts from JC Whitney's and the chrome cracked and chipped when I tightened the bolts on them. Not saying all their parts was that bad, just I haven't ordered anything from them since.

As far as since then, I want to see and feel the parts I buy.

Also as I think about the $3K + I've spent in add on's items added to our Heritage since I bought her on 07, I can't remember a single item that I didn't buy at our dealership.

99% of the parts I bought were MoCo's that was hanging on the Dealer's wall, while a couple things was Kuryakyn (mirrors) and Rush muffs.

I've never had anything I got from our Dealership that didn't fit correct and Every piece still works perfect and still looks like the day I installed them.

IMO, Really Cheap new prices could means cheap parts, but still one can find some good deals on good parts if their "Close out" items or found on-line on sale or Used parts.

The sad truth is is that it is a Global Market and a Global economy. The even sadder truth is that it is that way today because our elected officials sold us out long ago back in the early 70's. Our Unions are now a days all but gone and ineffective and we will all pay for that one day in the future. I can't say my "Harley" is 100% American made but I can say anything I add to it is. I can also afford to do that too and I know not all are as fortunate. No matter what my choices are though I can't, never have or never will knock anyone else's bike and their choices. It's to personal and I have been around to long to know it to be any other way. I sure would never come on here and knock someone's old lady, I surly would never do the same to their bikes. I'v yet to ever see that ever turn out good!!!
