I thought I was buying american made products when I bought from the HD dealership. Have ya'll looked at the labels on the HD clothing? I went to buy a new leather jacket, and low and behold, a small tag on the inside said... made in china. Only thing they got was a piece of my mind as I walked out the door.
Soft, ur hit the nail on the head. There wouldn't be much left. Matter of fact, I worked at the York, Pa. final finishing plant for 12/13 years. There isn't a whole lot on that bike hasn't been touched by foreign hands. Hell, even if it's crafted here in the US doesn't mean the metal that it's made of comes from the US.
I could tell u stories, but I won't. I'll just leave it at that. It's the world we live in now-a-days.

As I mentioned in my earlier post:
"... Oh, that shirt that is made in China.... the label on it that says "Made in China" is made in the US ! "
If all you wore was American made HD clothing you would be in your birthday suit.
Well ... if an American store buys a product from China for $1 and sells it to you for $2 who profits ...? That is one way to think of the MoCo ...
That leads to another question ... who owns the American company ... (say for example, the MoCo) ...? Some of the executives (Davidson family) might own a few percent ... institutional investors (pension funds, mutual funds, insurance companies) ... 401(k)s (yours maybe?) ... individual investors ...
What if foreigners own mutual funds or direct investments in American companies ...?
On the other hand, Americans may own (part) of foreign companies ... (I own a miniscule fraction of a ton of foreign companies through index funds in foreign companies) ...AND some foreign companies have operations in the US that contribute significantly to some local economies (for example, BMW and Toyota) ...
Just giving everyone some food for thought ... the subject is not quite as 'cut and dried' as some people seem to think ...
"Made in USA" doesn't necessarily mean 100% made in USA. Could only be 51% for that matter. Check the "Buy American Act." Personally, I just turned down a job in the PRC though the cost of living would be lower and I could earn more money.
