I just installed a windshield on my springer classic, neverhave ridden a bike with one. What would be the idealheightof the windshield ? I've been told about nose level, if so how hard would it be to trim down ?
What model windshield did you go with? Some ridersset theirs upto look through the windshield so they get less wind turbulence. Why don't you leave it tall at first to see what you think.
It would be good if you could stretch high enough to look over the windshield in the rain.
I had 2 previous bikes with fairings and don't remember if I looked through or over the windshield.

I like the full size on my Deluxe...My wife's SEFB looks good with the shorter one...About a 3" difference..I can wear a ball cap on my deluxe without it blowing off...Not on the FB...To be honest the look was more important to me than the function of it....
I had the full size and cut it down to roughly the low profile.
I tried a low from a used bike that the dealer loaned me (the shield, not the bike).
I couldn't take the full size, the vibration on my helmet was killing me.
It sits below my nose, and its great. Wind in the face, not on my chest.
Ride it and see how you like the fit. Some folks like looking through the thing and some like looking over it. Personally, I like looking through it when I kick back and/or "slouch." Sitting straight up I want to see over it. That way when it rainsI can see over the thing.
Here's a link to a place that makes bike and aircraft shields. They are thicker and clearer than HD shields and will custom cut +/- 2" on top and sides. http://www.ceebaileys.com/
