So here it is my mate has an 52 plate heritage softail 1450 5 speed,i have a 56 plate dyna super glide custom 1584 6 speed, today we went out for a ride and tried each others bikes, well we both liked each others bikes more than our own bikes,so we may be doing a swap, looks like i might be coming over to the softail side , but i have a question i asked this before, when did harley stop using Timken bearings in the bottom end as ive heard the bottom end is better before 2003? Any help would be great.Cheers

If you're asking about the reliability of bottom end, unless you're going real big power, there are many riders in the Forum with a claimed 100,000 miles or more bikes 2004 and newer. Please explain what a "plate" is.

2002 was the last year a Timken bearing was used according to Donny Petersen.

I remember you asking whether you should keep your super glide or get an older heritage. I thought you decided to keep the Dyna. Personally I have always loved the softails and after a few test rides on different softails my mind was made up. To me it is the most comfortable and easy to ride Harley there is. I don't think it is the best Harley just the best for the type of riding I do (city and some long distance touring).

For now. When I grow up, I'll get a Road Glide.
