+1 on the wind-vest. Think that is probably the best way to go. The only other thing that would look right on a crossbones is the nostalgic style shield from Harley or Memphis shades. Something like this one. Batwing would ruin it.
Thanks everyone for the input. Ya I agree its not the best option for looks. Thats why it needs to be quick attach and only used select days of the year. I have had the bike for several years and this has been in the back of my mind for some time.
Function before form on this one, but I do hope to do it reasonably well if it can be done.
Cheers

My Wind Vest is going on the'09 Bones tonight. Can post some pics if you want. I do run the Memphis bat wing quick detach on my '97 and love it, but it would ruin the lines of the Bones. However, after running 70 into a 55 mph wind last month, I'm hoping the Wind Vest will help.

Good luck on whatever you decide: ride safe !!
Love to see some pics, and hear some review. I have a tombstone style but the buffeting is nearly as bad as the wind head on when its cold, just hits from a different direction with the tombstone...
And don't get me wrong, I'm a wind in your face type, but sometimes spring and fall temps just above freezing are a little much in my old age.
OK. Here's a few pics. Just finished putting it on: piece of cake. The entire windshield is well made: clamps fit perfectly ! They even called to verify that my bars are 1 1/4" before they shipped. AND I didn't know that the height is adjustable by two inches, up or down. Won't get a chance to road test until next week: supposed to go above freezing for a few days. I am impressed (so far) with the quality of the workmanship and material. I'll get some better pics when I can get outside !! So far, I LIKE it.
It's defiantly possible to do, as I've seen it done. The Facebook link proves that they are out there. Have you considered HOW it would be a quick swap? The headlight would be an issue, and bat wings are designed to fit on a front end that isn't moving. The front of the Springer moves and I can't imagine being able to attach the batwing safely to it.
I wish there were pics of the mounting options on the bike in the pic. Personally I don't like it but I'm wondering about the logistics now. For the cold I run heated jacket and gloves. It drops to around 15 at its coldest. I'm sure it gets worse there though.
I don't think this is a question of whether putting on a batwing fairing on a Springer can be done, more of a matter of if it should be done.
There is a Kamco windshield, made for Springers, that has lowers built into it. It utilizes the Harley QD windshield mounting system that was made specifically for the Springer.
This is not a photoshop. After years of wanting one I made it happen. Got an old batwing for $100 and made some custom brackets to fit it to the stock tombstone quick detach brackets. Took two days of trail and error but now it's done and I think it looks badass. only Crossbones in the world with a batwing! My 08
