Default Ignition wire

I have a 2000 Heritage Softail Classic(FLSTC)
I'm installing an amp and need an ignition wire(one that's not hot when the key is off. I removed the dash and see a few wires coming out of where the key is. Any ideas on which one it is? there's a red one, a red one with a black stripe and another(forgot which color) thanks in advance for the help............

It would be easiest to use a 12V test light to see what wire is an ignition one.
Should only be a few dollars at walmart or an auto store

I have one but am paranoid. it would be the wire that doesn't light up test light when the ignition is off and lights when its on?????

The test light would be off until you turned the ignition switch on, then it would light. To do that, you might need a second set of hands. But it will more than likely be the wire on the left. If you look at the switch, you turn the top to the right which when you look at it underneath, would be the opposite. Not positive, but I would try that one first.

I ran my amp through a relay. It's just tucked in under the seat near the front of the battery.

Thanks for the confidence boost guys. I am very mechanically enclined(not with electrical though) I just needed some words of encouragement and got them. I used the test light for the first time and found what I needed and it was actually simple to do. the stereo came out awesome and I am pleased with it, took it out on the highway and did around 75 and I can hear it clear as day(everyone else heard Motley Crew too) and not even turned up all the way............ thanks again... ride safe.

Awesome! Glad everyone was able to help you out. I love dealing with electrical, which is why I am an electrician. I get to play with it everyday!
