Think he's saying "B" as in signing his initial after each post.

Like how some put there name at the end of every post.

Just what came to my mind first...

First 88
Then 1988 but with a 'b'

Ok.. for 88b TwinCam , The Cam Chain tensioners.
For 1988 Evo, Le t mechanic check engine, a softail is rigid mounted to the vibrating Engine so ..
1 - Go through every bolt , something will be loose guranteed.
2 - Have your dentist recheck your filings if you plan to be heading anywhere north of 60m/h for any significant time.

with 35K it's probably not the orig speedometer or was ridden with a broken cable some (I haven't had a functioning speedo on my 94 in over a year)

Just to set the record straight, I have put 21,000 miles on my 99 Softail Custom with the solid mounted EVO motor, and I have never had one bolt come loose anywhere on it. Also, contrary to what many think, it is reasonbly smooth up to 75 mph, and much smoother at idle than the rubber mounted engines.

Jim speaks the truth.

I have put over 140,000 miles on my `89 with the solid mounted motor, and also have never had a single fastener come loose. The only things that have loctite on them are the compensator nut and the pulley nut.
