Default Member help before buying.

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone can educate me on which is the roomiest non touring (Leg-wise) HD in the 2013 line up. I would like to get an HD with the most forward controls. I am partially disable consequentely i need room when Im out in about on my HD. I felt cramped on the street bob with forward controls. Any feedback will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Thats tuff. Im 6'2" and just bought a Heritage and Im fine on that. You'll probably have to go throw a leg over a few models and then I would suggest renting one that feels right on the showroom floor. Spend at least a long days ride on it.
Good luck

great advice about going to a dealer and sitting on the bikes and then renting the one you think you want to buy!

Not sure on how you ride but maybe highway pegs could help you stretch out once and a while. Also just a guess but I think the softails are longer and there are seats to make you sit higher which would help with the cramped legs too. Good luck finding the one that fits.

If nothing quite meets your needs they sell extension kits for forward controls to push them forward a few more inches plus you can change your seat to sit a little farther back too. Lots of options to help extend your reach.

By "non tourer" I am assuming you are taking about anything Dynas and Softail and not the touring line or sportster line. I agree with the suggestion of going to the dealer and trying out each bike. I know that most HD dealers I've been to the sales people are really helpful and will go above and beyond to make sure they find the bike that best suits you and your capabilities. I really don't have any suggestion as your situation is unique and only you know the extent of you abilities. I wish all the best bro

I like the Heritage because of the floorboards. You can put your feet wherever they feel comfortable. Then If you really need to stretch out you can use the engine guard like on my bike. You can see it in my signature picture.

Guys,
Thank you very much. I'm going to seat in every softail and test drive as many as I can. According to your responses, it seems to me like comfort is an individual thing. There is no one bike that is comfortable to all. You guys are really great.
I'll let you all know what I come up with.
Have a great week,
Newt.

Hello,
I went to the Harley dealership today. I test drove the softails. I told you all that I didn't want a touring bike. I was quite intimidated by the weight and size of it. Well, the sales person insisted that the right bike for my disability was the Road King. He was quite persistent about me test driving it. Guys, what a bike! I already placed an order for a Road King candy orange/beer bottle (ABS, Security System and Cruise Control). I'm keeping this bike forever. The softail is smoother at low speeds and easier to manage IMO however, the riding position in the Road King was unbelievably comfortable to me.
I thank you all for your help.
Best regard,
Newt
