Yep...or buy the kit from vulcan and rake it out a little...the kit consists of...stem and top tree.

Hey, I'm not arguing the price of Springers, only that FX Springers go for less money than FL Springers. Thats my only point. And yes, Just last month the Departure swap meet was here here in VA. There was an FX Springer with the asking price of $1,500 OBO. And guess what he said he would take.............???????????? Just sayin'. Of course it was stripped down to just the Springer, but as I understand it, thats ALL the O/P wants. A bare Springer he can bolt all his stuff too. So yeah, I have found bare FX Springers for reasonable prices, were I almost NEVER find a bare FL Springer for a reasonable price. And the O/P ought to be able to sell his FL Springer for a tidy sum if he wishes, rather than modify it to work on his FXST. Thats all I meant, not to start a HOW MUCH debate.

Heres a Springer right by me. Asking $1,500. Wow, that took me almost five seconds to find.

Heres another one. Asking $1,500 OBO. Complete FX and ready to bolt on. Tire, bars, and brakes. Not sure why you guys can't find these, but OK.

Heres another FX Springer front end with wheel, tire, brakes, cables AND handlebars. Asking $1,500 OR BEST OFFER

Like I was saying, you can almost ALWAYS get a better deal on an FX Springer than an FL. As these listings show, a stripped bare FL will bring as much or more than a complete FX front end. Thats all I was trying to say.

Rocker, the rake on the Fl is different from an FX. The rake comes from the stem on the trees. I dont know about earlier springers but a 93 FX tree will not work on the 02 FL forks ive got.

The springer right by you is an FL...better go nab it. Craigslist stuff is always a little cheaper...and a LOT more likely to be stolen...but does you no good to search all over the country cause they will not ship it. You are correct FL generally go for more than FX ...simple supply and demand...there are a lot more FX ones out there...my point was even the lowly FX springers are bringing a lot more than 1k for a nice one that does not need to be re-chromed.

dont know how u get it out...
looks simple enough but im betting that it is pressed in... which is why i left my fx stem in during powdercoating.
my manual shows how to tear every nut and bolt down on the springer but says take it to a dealer to service the stem. sux.
