I have a 2001 Heritage, I did the big bore kit little over 60.000 miles ago.. Andrews G31 cams, Screaming Eagle Heads, racetuner etc..One of the pistons that keep pressure on the chain for the balance weights wound up going thru the shoe that guides the chain and was eating chain etc etc.. Since there were little pieces going thru my oilpump, galleys, bearings etc I decided to have the whole engine redone.. I had them put the 103" stroker kit in.. HD only had pistons 10 over for this kit and it took 20 to clean up my bore so I had to go with KB stroker pistons... Now... PROBLEMS... Busted 2 oilbags in a week from vibrations, spotlights keep turning in, headlight bracket broke, passenger said her right floorboard is fine, left side she said vibrates so bad she cant tell if her foots on the floorboard or not after a few miles.. I barely have 1200 miles on rebuild, bike runs GREAT... FAST!! But the vibrations feel like its tearing bike apart... I ride alot, have rode this bike 1154 miles in a day, have 2 days over 1100 miles, another just over 1008.. Now I ride 200 miles & feel like its beating me & the bike up... Any ideas?

Reason: Misspelled word
Yes, I had to replace the counter balance assembly. The mechanic said he knows the 3 balance links are all aligned. He did a similar build on his Dyna.. No probs, its real fast. Only dif is his his 10 over so he has the hd pistons, mine is 20 so had to go with Keith Black pistons
I know this doesn't help much, but I'd take it back and have them fix it. A balanced engine should not be vibrating like that. What does the builder have to say about it?
Not sure on the motor mounts.. Have taken it back a couple times and they cant seem to find the problem... I'm thinking something DEFINATELY isn't ba;anced right. I was told the HD kit for the 103' stroker is balanced...
My previous bike, an 01 roadking had stage II big bore kit and gear drive cams from previous owner. It runs strong and great. But the vibrations at idle were teeth chattering.
I was told by dealership that the vibes and lopey idle was bec of the cams.
My 02 cents, bring it back to whoever did the work and make sure things are ok.
Did the builder weigh the pistons before install. Maybe being 30 over they're heavier than the originals. I know most outfits try and cast their pistons so that weigh stays the same to not effect balancing but maybe not this time and that will cause bad vibs. The builder was familiar with Dynas but they don't have the balancers. He said he got the three points lined up on the balancer chain but something might have screwed up putting the case halves together and altered this. Shouldn't be anything with motor mounts as they're just studs through holes in the block, frame to frame unless he spaced it wrong as they do have spacers on each side. My guess would be piston weight throwing off engine balance.
A softail motor and a bagger and Dyna motors are different. The Softail is not mounted the same way as a bagger or Dyna so it should not vibrate like crazy due to the counter balancers.
I'd say we have a problem with the balancers as I don't see a bump in displacement and stroke breaking oil bags.
I was thinking along the lines of balance due to pistons... Not sure if they were weighed or not... Going to have to look into that.. Thanks alot for suggestions, and or ideas!!
