I have read that since the oil tank is above the sump that the motors have a check valve inside them, what happens is the "ball" thats in the check valve gets worn after a while and leaks somewhat. Then when you store the bike for the winter the oil all drains into the sump. When you start her up you get a nice mess on the floor. ......This I read out of some v-twin,..type of magazine... some mechanics on here could chime in though.
I recall reading something about this as well. I just can't remember exactly where but I think Jakazz is right on the money. If memory serves, after prolonged storage without starting the bike, oil leaks out of the oil tank and into the crankcase. When you try to start the bike, there's too much oil in the bottom end and it winds up spitting out of the motor. I don't remember from where exactly but I don't think it's anything too serious. I'm out of town right now or I'd check the manual. Good luck. Let us know what happens...

Hope you can clean up mess than ,put lost oil back in, see if you didn't cross thread filter, or just go all over your oil change, make sure every thing snug. GOOD LUCK. HEY FXST you have f...... fine machine, don't ever let it out of site, some A.. H... would be trying to put in bed of truck, BY HIS SELF major fine ride.
