Both...4 quarts dry and about 3 quarts on a change...Change it, put in 3, warm it up and then check it. Add as needed...

don't fill to the top though, I usually put 3 1/2 total with a filter, and that is a short 1/2 qt!

harleycharlie1992, I'm with you on that and even a bit less oil for my model and year. I had issues with excess oil blowing out head breather tubes into air cleaner quite a bit and onto my jeans at highway speeds, on my 2022 SGS. I read all the issues, started looking into vented crankcase breathers, head breather tubes directed down to under bike into a canister or just blow into the environment etc. etc. My master mechanic told me to fill the engine oil to midway between full and empty on dip stick - problem solved that easy. Not to open cans and cans of worms, but that worked for me and it was free. He also told me once a ride when bike is at operating temp give it one redline shift to burn off everything on piston heads.

Holly S**t, I didn't even look at the date ROFL. Well it shows you it's a decade old thing that keeps coming up.
