Question..

I just ordered a set of replacement fork tube assemblies complete with chrome lower sliders, and would like to know if the metal cover that goes behind the headlight along with the side covers and upper cans are chrome or stainless?.. I tried a magnet and it sticks to everything on top except the side covers which wrap around to the rear of the triple trees...Can anyone help me out on this? I've heard conflicting opinions in the past on this and want to get everything I need to chrome out the front end ...

The stock ones are polished, not chromed.

 

They're all polished or just the side covers?

 

The front triple tree cover (right behind the headlight) is chrome. The upper fork covers and side panels (rear triple tree cover) are polished SS.

Cow bells, behind head, sides.

 

Don't recall if the chrome kit for my wife's 08 Deluxe came with the side fork covers or not. I know it didn't come with the front fork cover because that is stock chrome.

I just checked it with a magnet. Front cover and cowbells ****** the magnet strong. lowers not as much and side/rear covers very weakly.

Funny thing, my Heritage chrome fork kit came with a chrome front fork cover. I checked it with a magnet and it just slides off like it was plastic. WTH.

 

everything on mine grabbed the magnet except the side covers, but sometimes S/S will grab a magnet if it's cheap S/S
