I have a 2011 blackline and have just upgraded the air filter to the screamin eagle heavy breather and fsd sinful exhaust. The exhaust does not have the holes for the o2 sensors so... My question is can I run my bike without the o2 sensors? I guess I have a few options of welding bungs on the exhaust but unsure if it will damage the ceramic coating. I also read I can put a power commander on it. What do you guys suggest? Will I damage the motor without the o2s in? I've read up on this but didnt have a straight answer.
YOu will need to run o2 sensors for obvious reasons.. They have to be connected or you will geta trouble code, if you connect them and they are not in the pipe they will add lots of extra fuel to compensate for the abundance of o2 (from not being in a pipe).. some o2 sensors are heated and would catch a wiring harness on fire if just bundled up with zip ties against the wiring as they get heated to avoid fouling from rich mixtures at startup and deccell..
true he could use a power commander but I wouldn't recommend one. I've had several fail they don't tend to last long and all it takes is the powercommander unit getting wet once to junk it either by rain or washing..
So you guys think my best bet is to weld the bungs on and use the oxygen sensors, then get the screaming eagle tuner and have harley dyno it? What size oxygen sensor are on my bike and where should I buy the bungs at?
I think your best bet is to get the power commander (PCV) and bypass the o2 sensors. You need a fuel mang system since you upgraded your exhaust and intake. Your bike is probably running lean right now.
Get the bungs welded in, you will do more damage to your bike running witout them than you will to the ceramic coating by welding. If you go with a tuner you have several options that are all good; Power Vision, TTS, SE Pro ect.. As far as having a dealer do the dyno I wouldn't let any around me touch my tune, look around for a reputable tuning shop and do a little homework. Just because someone has a dyno does not automatically make them a tuner.
