Default Security Alarm

I tried to post this in the Tech Forum under Alarms and stuff, but it is messed up...?

Anyway, my question is in regards to the HD Security System Smart Siren II and the Security System Pager Receiver II...

I have two 2006 Softails, the Springer Softail and the Deluxe, they both have the basic FOB arming system with no audible chirp, the lights flash(Not the passive arm like the 07 models). So if I was to add the the Security System Smart Siren II and Pager would I need to carry both the FOB and the Pager? Does the Smart Siren work with the basic alarm? Or are they two separate systems? Also, what is the scoop on this Smart Siren any good or bad feedback. I looked into lojack and it is not covered in my area, nor any area I go to... I looked at the Scorpio 500 but it is more spendy than the HD product. What are people using out there? Any recomendations...?

Thanks!!!

9MM, pit bull's, sorry guy that s... is way over my head, i live in DALLAS-FT.WORTH area in TEXAS and i used to think HOUSTON was bad, people here steal in broad day light, plus other people will not help because afraid they might have to go to court, and you know how busy you can be, just as long as they aren't messing with you, also we have about half of what was NEW ORLEAN'S, and they are HARD CORE, and broke, it's tough right now. PEACE.

Bob, the Smart Siren II is plug and play with your factory alrarm. You don't need anything else in order for it to work. If you elect to get the pager, you will need to have the Smart Siren II installed first as the pager will not work with just the factory alarm and not the Smart Siren II. The pager allows you to receive a message that your alrarm has been triggered when you're out of earshot of the siren. It also gives you status messages and such. You don't NEED the pager if you have installed the Smart Siren II, but it is one more little bit of "piece of mind" for some folks. Obviously, if you get the pager, you will need to carry it with you, as well as the fob, if you want to receive remote status messages from your alarm system.

Here's a link to the installation instructions for the Smart Siren II. There were no copyright notices on the instructions so I do not believe there is any legal reason why I can't share this information.

Good luck, ride safe & ride smart.

man ya'll are way over head, but randy you have nice ride, love those color's, had peoplemake fun about my concord purple ,said i should lead gay parade, damn that's funny, but when seen in person ,not any comment's ,accept how custom it look's. Now bob since you know by pager they are throwing your sled in back of Chuey's truck, keep your hog leg cocked and locked, it would suck to go out where bike is and it's 3 or 4 nice guy's taking it for free detail, seriously thou, catching one in act may be o.k if not packing, but you don't want to take on a group. Let's just hope you don't need to use it, a few year's ago i had superglide, and parked daylight at bike week in Daytona, and some scuzz bag had stretched out on my bike ,custom paint ,chrome everything, had to wake him up, passed out, i was lucky few bud's with me ,but he was pissed because i woke him, also the bowie knife he wore on belt caught my eye, oh yes joy's of bike week, i hear they have team's that steal harley's during bike week, i guess it's to hard to earn money for own bike.

Thanks Randy and purple haze... I hope I never have to depend on either the Glock or the Pager... To be sure I would use whatever I needed if I felt my life was threatened!!! I practice regularly ;D

Thanks, PH, I like your colors too. Can't worry about what anyone else thinks. As long as you like it, who cares. My bike stands out in the crowd and that's okay by me. It only matters that the owner's happy with it. After all, nobody else paid for it, did they?

Thanks!!!

I tried the Harley "Pager system" about 2 years ago... what a joke!
I found out what the problem was... after returning 2 "Pager Systems" and finally got my money back after the 3rd!

Problem: The TRANSMITTER OVER HEATS when mounted on the Battery. This is where the wonderful instructions tell you to mount it. Now I have heard others mounting the Transmitter in another location, that might work.

I have talked to "Harley" (what a joke) and I talk to the guys who invented it. I think they were in New Mexico or Arizona... But they were aware of the "PROBLEM", so maybe now they have resolved this problem??????

Tear into a box and see where they say to mount the Transmitter...

I have the Smart Siren... piece of cake to install... I gave up on the Pager.

Imagine this: You have a PAGER... thinking your bike is safe... you go back to your bike, IT IS GONE! How much trust do you have in this PAGER? Tis up to you!

My 2 Cents... and then some...
