Just read the label and the fine print at the bottom of the bottle. Should say made only from prime rib T-Rex or just buy the stuff from Harley. Easiest way.

New guy's come here all the time and need the same help we all needed once. Shoot, back when I started riding I never heard of a computer, didn't even know there was such a thing. I have been riding all those years and still learn new things. I learned something new about the Shotgun Shock just this past week and I have had it over a year now. I learned because I asked. Someone knew and helped me. That's is what this site is for more than anything else, learning and sharing knowledge when someone asks. Yes, the oil thing has come up 1000 times but it is still new to some people. Having said that I use Amsoil full syn 20/50 in motor and primary, Amsoil full syn 75/90 in the tranny. If you would like to know why I choose and use Amsoil send a PM. I would be more than happy to go over it again with you.

You don't mention what mileage you are at and that matters somewhat.

Everyone does something different but I've had many new bikes/cars and here's what I do:

500 miles oil change with dino oil and new filter.

First suggested service interval I switch to full synthetic. For my Slim that will be at the 1000 mile mark. Dino oil is better for break in but IMO if it ain't broken in at 1000 miles it never will be. Full syn also helps a air cooled engine run cooler and that's always a good thing.

I use genuine hog fat, because it just seems right somehow.

Actually, I'm another fan of Amsoil. In general, synthetics will take more heat before they start to break down, and our engines aren't the greatest at temperature management.

I used Castrol V-Twin last time though, because it was on sale, and the nearest Amsoil was about a 40 mile drive. So that gives you an idea of how much I think it really matters.

Here is a link to the oil sub forum.

Oil and Oil Related Topics

There, you have input from thousands of riders regarding which oil is used in each hole as well as what filter is preferred.

For completeness sake, I use Mobil 1 V-twin 20w50 in the crankcase and primary and Mobil 1 75w90 gear lube in the tranny.
