So, I took my bike to a dealer because they have a nice RK for sale that I like. They offered me $10,200 for my trade in. Kinda wondering how good of a price is that for an 06 FB 11,000 miles?
I'd say anything over $10K is good for a pre-07 softail. I'd take that all day if you're willing to part with it. One of my friends sold his 05 standard with only 700 miles for $10K last year. All depends on the buyer I guess. Good luck!
Yeah but there are other things to consider other than the trade offer. Dealers will never give you more for your trade than what they can purchase the same bike for wholesale.
If they are giving you high end on the trade value then you are paying on the high end for the new bike.
Despite what dealers will tell you, they (the dealers) can and will sell new bikes for under MSRP.
The goal of the dealer is to make money on both ends, your job as a buyer is to minimize the amount of money they make on both ends. They (the dealers) are pros at taking money from your pocket into theirs. You on the other hand are not a pro at spending this kind of money on a daily basis.
I'd sell it privately and ask a grand or two more, you may have more leverage with cash then trading it in. Especially since the new model year is coming at the end of July....
Sounds like an ok trade in price but without knowing the details of the RK sells price, its impossible to say. Lots of used 09-11 used Touring bikes for sale now at great prices if you look and are patient.
Won't let me post link or pics have to do it after work. 14, 700 for an 08 RK classic rhinehart duals stage 1 not too much chrome, just the right amount in pewter pearl.
If the bike speaks to you and you are happy with the amounts, go for it. Beauty (or in this case, value) is in the eye of the beholder. There will always be a better deal out there, but why wait if it is what you want. I'd say ok to the deal but you want ______ (insert accessory here) thrown in. You'd be surprised how much they'll give you in accessories to sweeten the deal!
