Could be my helmet too, just went to a outlaw DOT from a Harley novelty. Definitely part of the problem but trying to stay safe.

Exactly what I was thinking.
A shield that's too short isn't much better than no shield at all.
I only get buffeting from mine from underneath, and then only at higher speeds.

After studying the draft from the shield for 6yrs..

I now know it as Ur said comes from below..

I've cut my shield twice and now down to 16 in (cause some say its from the top) which it ain't..

I have since experimented with other options and I have found that a Helmet that is TOO loose will cause more head shakes from the buffering.. Thus giving me a Head Ache also...

Try a Helmet that's TIGHT rather than one that just feels good..

I went 1 size smaller on my lid 3yrs ago on a 2k mile trip and believe it or not,, it got rid of 95% of the head buffering.

If U want to get rid of even more get the Fangs and a good tight fitting Helmet and then U'll like the shield...

I now on long trips just use the smaller lid and all my buffering problems are gone..

Has anybody tried this shield?????
It seems to make since that with the vent open you can reduce the low pressure area behind the shield thus reducing some buffeting.
And I agree with oct the the majority of the buffeting comes from underneath.

I'm with you. I run my rocker without one and like you I prefer a little pressure all over rather than have it concentrated on your forehead, which hurts way more...I'm up at Atlanticade in pei canada and heading home today (supposed to leave yesterday...LOL, don't tell the bride...). One of the very nice ladies running Atlanticade asked me the other day why I would come all the way from Boston without a windshield? I told her that windshields were for girls...LOL. she laughed. All over pressure is better...j

Nope. I have the shotgun shock, so I've had my back end at all kinds of heights. It's the same problem. What I don't get is the guys that don't get any buffeting. They either have it and are just used to it or are sitting on the bike in such a way as to avoid it.

IMO, it's the only way to go for long trips ... and the tunes are a must. Regarding the Street Glide, buffeting problem there is corrected by a taller windshield. I run a 8" on my Ultra. Allows me to just see over, or duck behind if necessary.

Another thing you could try is to replace your 16" plexi-shield with a "Recurve" style from Long Ride Shields.
That curved lip at the top will throw the air further over your head, effectively turning a 16" into an 18".
Plus it uses all your existing mounting hardware so all you're buying is the shield.

same prob with me. Get a headache after 3-4 hours of high speed. Friend let me put his lowers(fangs) on my heritage....stopped the buffing and no more headache. I bought some lowers at the Bowling Green HD & put them on in the parking lot.
