Question Seat question?

There's been some threads lately about seats. So I'd figure to ask this question. There is probably many more companies out there that do motorcycle seats, but C and C seats and Mean City Seats always come to mind. Looking to get mine worked on. Has anyone had their seats worked on by either of the two mentioned? Is one better than the other? Has anyone ever gotten screwed by either one? Bad experiences etc, etc...Thanks in advance for any replies...

I had mine worked by MCC.
$140 to mod it DD Memory foam and $30 each way for shipping.
If you were going this route I would suggest you catch them at a rally, have them mod your seat there and ride it for a couple days, and if not happy or it needs tweeked, have them fix there on the spot.

Wasn't impressed w/mine, and sold it to a guy who was familiar with their work and said I got bum steer. He said he was going to try to get them make it right.

Had a C&C seat. It is hard/firm, sits you back and down about an inch.
Sold it and now have the Hammock.

My recommendation would be for you to go to your dealer and try out some of the demo seats. FWIW.
This would be the cheaper alternative and you have more control as you know exactly what it is you want and what you are getting.

I had Mean City redo the seat for my Sportster with a combo foam and gel. Nice folks and all but when the smoke cleared I felt it was a waste of money. It was uncomfortable as hell after 30 minutes or so. They offered to work on it some more but I just put up with it rather than have more down time for the bike. Wish I had that money back though.

By the way, the stock seat on my Heritage is the most comfortable seat I have ever sat on.

Id say the same about Corbin. If you can ride in and have it fitted then go for it. I would hate to have to play shipping tag to get it right!

My Saddlemen Explorer G-Tech Seat For Harley Softail 06-13 that I got from RevZilla for $348 (price match) should be delivered in a day or two and I'll report back.

Getting a seat worked on without being there to me measured for it is risky. No sure what you're trying to get out of your seat, or how many miles you do on a ride, but the C&C on my Dyna is comfortable enough for me and I have no problem riding 200+ miles at a timr on it. That said, the stock seat on my Softail Custom is the most comfortable seat I ever sat on, and I could easily do double the miles I could on my C&C.

Buying a seat can be a crapshoot. You just never know sometimes. You have to give it some time to break in, and for your butt to get used to it.

Had my Heritage seat done by MCC, love it. But then I loved it from the beginning with the exception that it was a little wide. Had it narrowed and lowered, I'll do 350 - 400 miles without it bothering me. Would have preferred to have it done locally and measured but it all worked out for me.

I am more than pleased with the stock seat on my fatboy as far as comfort but would like to feel like I'm sitting "in" the bike just a touch more. That being said would I really notice a 1" difference If i went that route? Also is this something a local upholstery shop could handle for me?

Just got MCC back a couple of weeks ago. Got the memory foam install. Too early to tell. The Corbin seats I had in the past had memory foam & they took about 500-1000 miles to break-in & were very comfy afterward. Hoping the same happens now.
