Besides the black and chrome engine the front end and maybe some other chrome pieces, they're almost the same. Except they stopped making the FX Springer in 06. Don't know about the Deuce
Standard has least amount of stock chrome out of all three models, silver PC engine, standard front end, slightly different bars. Usually get silver PC rear wheel and spoked front.
Springer has more stock chrome, black PC engine, springer front end, slightly different bars. Earlier year Springers have come with miniapes and buckhorn bars. Usually get silver PC rear wheel and spoked front.
Deuce has comparable chrome to Springer, maybe more, black PC engine, slimmer/sleak tank design, standard forks, and Deuce fender. The bike has a more racey design. Usually get Deuce style silver/chrome rear wheel and spoked front.
They are all really nice bikes. The Deuce is treated like a red-headed step-child by the parts guys. Disproportionate amount of aftermarket accessories for Deuces relative to the other Softail models as evidenced by the "except FXSTD" seen under the description for most parts.
Springer looks good but requires alot more service in the long run. Kneck bearing replacement. Don't ever buy a springer withoutExtended Warranty. 10k adds 2.0 hours. If you do your own service and skip the front end it ride like a dump truck.
i bought the springer ,w/o extended its not that much more to have the service done. what an extra 200 dollars or so ? i wouldnt let that stop ya from buying a springer , they are both nice tho , buy the one ya want the most , cause the service difference aint nothing...
o , i thought you said it requires ALOT MORE SERVICE,and why buy the extended warrenty just for the springer ? i have to pay for my 5k 10k services? i didnt know they were covered under the extended warrenty?
I keep hearing this extra maintance on springer and there is a off set on the front wheel, but I have boo coo miles on mine and neck bearings fine ( I check cause of all the hub bub). a while back, there still goingggggg.
