se tuners
According to the DynoJet website, there isn't another dyno within a couple hundred miles in any direction from me...
I've read a lot of posts on the SE SPT vs SE Pro Super Tuner (SE PST) but there are factual errors. The newer versions of SE SPT allow you to make custom changes to the VE tables in addition to the Smart Tune feature. There are limits to which you can modify the values but that is mostly so you don't blow up the engine. The advantage with the SEPST in my books, is that not only can you tune the VE tables, but also alter acceleration & deceleration enrichment, Throttle Position & RPM Redline. Not sure you need the other features on the SE PST, given these are not track bikes (and have barely adequate braking). But that is only my opinion.
In terms of efficacy, I have used a Fuel Pak and found the SE tuners to be more flexible in gradations than the Fuel Pak (which uses break points) which also allows for more detailed data gathering when doing data runs. All in all, they are a decent value for money product which provides all the critical features you need without the frills.

I originally wanted a street tuner because I knew I wouldn't do anything else besides my pipes. But I was told, it wasn't compatible to my bike. So, they sold the super tuner, for the cost of the street one. I guess the next owner will be happy about it.
I think one of the biggest missunderstandings when these types of discussions come up is what the tuner actually does.
First of all there are two different kinds of tuners
First is the flash type of tuner. These tuners actually reprogram the "map" inside the ECM. They just serve as an "interface" or way of comunicating with the ECM. Powervision, SEPST, TTS, are examples of these kind of tuners
Second are the module type tuners. These tuners are actually plugged in between the sensors and the ECM to "correct" or "adjust" the data that the ECM uses. Examples of these are Fuel Pack, Power Comander and many others
When using a flash type of tuner, its only as good as the person using it. They all basicly accomplish the same thing. With these types of tuners the process starts with a data colection procedure, the purpose of this is to dial in the VE tables (volumetric efficiency). Basicly you find out what the bike wants. After the VE tables are learned then the AFR and timing tables can be adjusted, after that then it can be even finer tuned with accell enrichment and decell enleanment.....etc. This is what makes these types of tuners "infinitly adjustable", all parameters can be changed. This is where the dyno comes in handy, changes can be made and then tested in a matter of minutes, with all the equipment hooked up. The dyno doesnt actually do anything to your bike, it's just a way to test run your bike.
With module type tuners, they plug in between the ecm and the rest of the system and with a whole bunch of math that I will never understand, they adust the information that the ECM recieves. These types of tuners offer very little adjustment if any and usually speced to speciffic air cleaner exhaust and cam combinations.
There is a lot more work to do when using a flash type of tuner, but this type of tuner provides a much more acurate tune in the right hands. Theflipside is there is a lot more room for error as well.
Things get missunderstood real easy when missinformation is put out there. If you had an SE tuner installed by the dealer and they screwed up the tune or worse yet just loaded a base map for your mods and didn't bother to tune it. You get it back and it runs hot and like ****, your buddy tells you to take it to his indie, because his bike runs great and thier advice is to just get a Power Comander. You follow this advice and when you get your bike back it runs like you wanted it to, most folks would draw the conclusion that the SE tuner was a P.O.S. and the Power Comander was a way better tuner. The real problem was the person who installed the SE tuner. This kind of crap goes on all the time. The most important thing is to do your research and seek out your best local option. If your local guy is more experienced with a Powervision then a SE tuner may not be a good option and vice versa
AHH I'm rambling, hope it makes sense
