worked for us for 7yrs.. our dealer puts one on the battery of all new bikes and lets them hang out the bottom of the Oil tank

Ps Don't make it to long as to the end of it will touch the headers..
Dont ask how I know..

I ran across this while looking to see what others do with the pigtail. I was searching for this very reason. Riding down the road and smelled something funny, just thought it was a car around me. Got home to find that the cap had been melted off mine, and the connector itself was almost glued/melted to the heat shield.

Guess I'll stuff it under the seat edge better.

Wow, I never thought about the possibility of melting the pigtail. Mine is short and just barely peeks out.

.. and if it's on the other side, make sure it's not hanging low enough that the belt will grind it down... that's what I did..
