I've had my Craftsman 2 cyl Cast Iron compressor with a 25 gal tank for nearly 30 yrs. don't remember the HP 2 or 3,? but it'll keep a cut off wheel grinder running easy.
just got another one two yrs ago for the son, it a diaphragm 2hp with a 26 gal upright tank is it's not 1/2 the compressor the older one is and it's a whole lot noisier.
If this is for a home would noise be an issue with a compressor and hand tools?
A shade tree mechanic i saw once had one in his home garage and that bastard made a racket.
It was the size of a water heater and could be heard across the street.

I can have a conversation while standing next to my air compressor at a normal level and hear you just fine.

That is the exact same model I just got for Xmas. The reviews are not lying. The thing is built solid and it will handle any job you can do at home.
If it puts you more at ease before purchasing just go to northern tool.com (which is where I bought mine from) and read the reviews there. Everyone raves about this particular model. Not to mention tha Ingersoll rand is one of the best if not the best brand out there.
I bought this compressor a few months ago and am pleased with it. It's quiet and compact and suits my needs. I ordered it from Sears and picked it up at their warehouse, no shipping cost.
