Default 02 fatboy rear tire

well my dad is picking up a 02 fatboy and it needs tires. he really like the way my wideglide looks with the 180 rear tire. so my question is whats the widest rear tire we can fit on there with out a buying a wide tire kit?

150 dunlop fits, best to grind down the fender bolts inside or flip them around and use acorn nuts outside. Mike

Bet the rim width is only 3". My 03 was. Be sure whatever you put on falls within that width in there spec. When you roll the sidewall in, it does not fit the rim correctly at the bead. This fit is extremely important if a tire was to ever go down and on a tubeless tire. Mine has a 160 x 17 but they did it with the narrow drive belt and the 17 helping it clear the caliper. My rim is 4.5 wide but Harley spec the 160 on mine simply by adding almost 1/2" extra by adding a 1/4" extra bead extension were the tread meets the sidewall. I am running a 160x17 by Michelin on the back now that looks and measures no wider then a 150 since they did not put the faux extra width in it.

This is a Avon 150 . that's about as Wide as you can go with out doin a lot of Spacer and Belt changes . With the fatboy you really don't see the tire that much anyway .
