I think a 140 may be about it. I have a 98 custom, same frame. Without converting to a thinner belt or chain the 140 mu is the biggest I could stuff in there without clearance issues. Maybe you could sneak a 150 mu, but I think it would rub the belt.

Yup, I'm also running a 140 (1996 Fatboy) in the Michelin Commander II. There's just enough clearance between it and my drive belt.
I think a 150 will be the max the stock wheel can hold...you would probably need a pulley spacer to gain belt clearance. I put a 170 under my 94 but I put a skinny belt on it an used a deuce wheel.

That'd what I almost bought, a Commander II. But since I was replacing only the rear because it got punctured, I saved a few bucks by getting a Dunlop. I also did this because the front was a Dunlop, not that it really matters.
But when it's time to replace them both, it'll probably be the Commander II.

A bit of a re-post of some info I posted into another thread but relevant here:
When I got my '96 Fatboy earlier this year I changed the tyres out to the Michelin Commander II's and have no complaints, great tyre. I went slightly wider on the rear 130 -> 140 because my Indy said the Michelin rep told him the 140 has a slightly different profile that handled better than the 130's. I don't know if that's true or not because I haven't seen them side by side, but I took his advice because I didn't have any prior experience with the MC II's and have been happy with the handling and look of them.
