Default softail shock absorbers

I bought a lift to pick up my new softail and it looks like the shocks actually sit a little lower than the frame.
I don't think it enough to do any harm but I would rather not put pressure on the shocks.
I do not see a way around this problem. Any advise?
thanks, Jungleman

I put the crossbar on the lift just in front of the shocks. Still picks the bike up level. I was concerned about the same thing.

I have a Craftsman lift. I position it just ahead of the shocks and it lifts my Standard just fine. I would never lift the bike at the shocks.

Ditto on all the above. Two by fours may be an option. I even think that HD sells "shims" to mount on the frame rails to add a little deapth. But, like the others said, I found that I can position the lift just in front of the shocks (with a full tank of gas - don't know what difference that makes) and the bike will lift level.

I use a Craftsman lift, I position it ahead of the shocks, just about wear the kick stand would be mounted and it lifts my FXSDTI great. I strongly advise lifting the bike back close the shocks; I have found that it leaves the bike a little unstable. There should also be some tie down's on frame of your lift that you can utilize to help stable your bike.

Always use a 4 by 4 as a safety measure. i went to the garage one morning and the craftsman jack was on the floor and the bike was sitting on the 4 by 4's.

DO IT!

Depends which end of the bike I want up. I have lifted on the shocks with no problem, but then again the lifting bar on my lift has been wrapped with old bicycle inner tubes so I guess when they compress some of the load is also taken on the frame.

I can barely get the lift under the bike now, no way with added wood!
