Default Proper Lift For Softail

I bought my first Harley last month, 2009 Fatboy, and need an answer from someone who knows.

I am interested in a lift and have been looking at a Pitbull or JS. It appears to me that the two shock absorbers are about 1/2 inch below the frame. If the lift is position to miss the shocks, is there any room leftover so that the drain plug can be opened and drained? I am going to the Delmarva Bike Week next week and both vendors are scheduled to be there and I plan to look at both brands. Now I am a little concerned about the shocks.

Am I worrying about nothing?

You won't hjave a problem lifting the bike under the shocks. I have the J&S, and I have used it on Fatboys, Deluxes, Ultras, and many in between.

I stored my wifes Deluxe on it the last two years and still no issues. Your not gonna hurt the shock, it simply changes the swingarm angle so that the bike is resting on the frame.

You can't go wrong with either of these lifts. The J&S is a little less money, and built by bikers, for bikers in the USA. That was enought to sell me on it, after seeing it in action. And YES, you can lift the bike, climb all over it, move it around the garage or driveway, and NEVER use a strap. Its one heck of a well made unit, and extremely stable.

So you lift directly on the shocks? I bought the orange frame extenders from Harley to avoid contact with the shocks. I have the JS Jack. It would make things a lot easier if I didn't always have to use those extenders.

got the JS lift too. Very well made, easy to use and stable as can be. Real value for the money.
As far as lifting on the shocks, no problem at all. Had my bike up for a couple of days with no ill effect.

Lifting on the shocks is a bad idea
the frame is for lifting, the shocks are only there for suspension purposes

I love my J&S and the customer service is second to none. Highly recommended.
