If you need abs you probably shouldn't be riding a motorcycle in my opinion. If you get in a situation where you have to slam on your brakes then you weren't paying attention or following someone to close.
I realize everyone has their own opinion, but really? No rider can anticipate what another driver will do. The question is not "if" you ever get into a situation, it is "when" you get in a situation, how will you react to it? Hard to say until it happens but would rather have ABS than not and keep the bike upright and controled (and yes, possibly still hit soemthing) than lay it down because the brakes locked in a panic situation. (more damage to bike/self and still hit something) to me it was a no-brainer, I went with ABS. Proper breaking is always the way to go, I may never activate the ABS but nice to know its there when needed if I screw up and apply too much pressure. This is just my opinion.
To OP, if she gets the ABS get her into a open parking lot to intentionally activate the ABS so she knows how it reacts and what to expect.

Yes really. Hey some riders need abs, some don't. I've rode for 25 yrs had 4 Harley's and have had one lay down when I was 17 and stupid. It's not luck, I ride smart and when I do use my breaks I don't have to slam them hard because I was a smart enough to give proper following distance, and I assume everyone is out to get me.
My dad said as a rider its ALWAYS your fault. Not from a legal sense but 99 out of a hundred times the accident could've been avoided by the rider if they used good judgment. Watch youtube accidents - thy are all in a hurry, showboating or not paying attention.
Would I take abs for free? Hell yes every little bit counts. Would I pay for it? No, because I don't need it.
So go buy it man if it makes you ride better. some of us don't need it.
I have a 2013 Slim with ABS. I didn't get it to make me a better rider, I got it to improve the safety features of the bike. I've had to go into hard breaking and the ABS worked very well. I'm glad it's there. Do I need it, maybe not, but glad I have it.

Yup, like I said I have nothing against abs and every little bit helps, but since I don't need it I'd rather use that 1000 bucks + towards a stage 1.

Noone said anything about ABS making them ride better... the OP was asking if it was worth it to get a bike with ABS or not and was asking for feedback? your contribution was if you need ABS you shouldnt be riding a motorcycle....
As far as the 99 times out of a hundred? its that 1% that is a B*&CH. Maybe ABS will help maybe not but glad I have it.

Why do you wear a helmet? is it the law there? you obviously dont need one of those either.
By your reply you obviously haven't been wearing your helmet lol. Learn to read - I did answer the question. It's need vs cost.
If you can't understand that, you should go ask your husband next time he takes you out for a ride.
