Default Softail Fairing

I have been looking for a cafe style fairing to fit on my fatboy and there just isnt anything out there except the Memphis Shades. I find piles of fairings for Dyna and sporty but nothing for my FLSTF.

I dont want a batwing. I want something like the old Arlen Ness or smaller that will fit around my headlight. I can fab the mounts and move the light if needed. I have seen the Memphis shades and just cant get around the Alien look.

Any ideas?

I've quite fancied a Memphis shades Bullet for my fatboy. But despite all their photos I can't get a feel for how it will actually look irl. Things on my bike always seem to look much bigger irl than I imagine from the photos. But like you (I think) I don't want the windscreen (heritage) look nor the batwing look and the Bullet is the only alternative I've come across so far.

I'd love to hear more about your research and any conclusions you come to (including photos!)

Default Harley quarter fairing for Sportsters

I saw a user (XWino) who used the standard HD quarter fairing on his Breakout with some basic adaptors made by Bungking- which attached to the standard quick-release brackets.

Do a quick search, and he's got a few pics out there.

I`ve paid close attention to this thread, as I`m tired of the wind trying to rip me from the bike while on the highway. I too, share your style concerns for the look of my bike (see my sig pic). I will check this out also. Thanks.

I also share this concern. I just bought a Breakout, but come from another cruiser which I used a 10-12" shorty windshield which made a world of difference when on the highway- even though it was quick detach, I almost never took it off.

And the nice thing with this solution is that the HD quarter fairing can be taken off in a short time using the quick disconnect brackets as well- I'm not positive how this relates to a Fat Boy, since I'm new to HD's but the part number for the 1/4 fairing is: 57070-97DH which comes in black or prime, and is built for Sportsters. The BungKing adaptors are the 49mm version- and these connect to the standard quick disconnect brackets.

This thread has a few pics of the forum member with a black Breakout using this setup:

I am still in the learning curve but I think the problems are that a Fatboy has a larger diameter headlight than a dyna and the tree is wider than just about anything including wide glide.

The Memphis Shades is the only bullet style fairing I have found and they do have several different windshields for it but they all swoop rearward, which I dont like that much.

Arlen Ness makes a really nice fairing styled off a a original Harley design but it is not available for a FLST...dangit
...tempted to buy one and go after it with the grinder but that could be an expensive adventure

The Harley quarter fairing hold promise but it's not exactly the look I want...it looks a bit bulky. I am wanting a bullet cafe style, very small

What are your plan for the rest of the bike? Are you going to leave it, or try to Café the rest as well?

Actually, I am going off the reservation with this. I dont want a bike "like that one over there" I am in the middle of building wrap fenders, like sinister ones and I have tall chubby t bars and a ton of little accents like blade levers, etc
I wanted the cafe fairing and planned to paint it to match

Does he have the full size fatboy style headlight?
I think a custom has a small headlight and the dyna fairing will fit on it
