Shhhhh.. many of us Softail owners have know that for yrs..

Several of my buddies in 09 told me the new touring frame will ride Sooo much better than my 07 Heritage..

So I tried a Test ride of a new 10 RK, I wasn't impressed at all, over-all I actually liked the Heritage better.

I was ready to trade for one that day, but after the ride, no way. I kept the Heritage and still have her..

Son and I do 1 or 2 trips a yr, usually 6 days and around 1800 miles. I have never been disappointed with anything about our Heritage

You can always make your bar hopper (softtail) into a bagger. You can't make a bagger into a bar hopper.

buy the softtail, if you want bags/windshield/comfy seat/ etc... you can always add that later.

Having just gotten another road king I remember how easy the big girl is to ride. Having said that, my springer is my still my fav bar hopper.

The RK rides a lot smaller than the faired tourers. some of that is actual wt savings on the front end and some of it is probably perception.

I love them both and if someone said I could only have one...I honestly am not sure which I would keep---for very different reasons. Probably keep the RK, it can be a badazz blvd cruiser or it can easily/comfortably tour the country. I n fact I did an "all states west of the Miss" ride on a RK a few years ago and it was a flawless tourer.
