Check the manual. On my 13 Heritage it's checked on the jiffy stand.

 

I have an '03 Deuce and the oil is checked when hot and the bike is level, not on jiffy stand. Really important that it's checked hot (but motor not running). HD's are wet sump motors and you'll get a false low level if the oil is checked cold. Then you'll overfill the tank and have a mess to clean up.
