I'm pleased to say I'm now a softail owner. I just purchased a 2006 FLSTNI and I'll be picking it up from the seller today. This is my first Harley so I'm now looking at a few things I need to purchase as a new owner. There are 2 items I'm looking at; a trickle charger and a back seat.
There is an SAE quick connect just under the seat. Is there a part number or item someone can recommend so I can check eBay? I've looked but there are many different styles and I'd like a recommendation before I make a purchase to make sure I'm getting the right item.
The bike has a custom color matched solo seat. I'm also looking for a passenger seat for my wife for just short rides around town. I'm assuming I could just add something behind the custom seat rather than have to replace it. Are there any recommendations on a part number or where I can find just a basic passenger seat that can easily be removed.
I'm looking forward to posting pictures as soon as I get it home.

1st, congratulations! I am also a proud owner of an 06 Deluxe. It's far from stock but still, the same bike! Mine is Black and White. May I ask you a few questions? You sure do not have to answer them either. You can also go private with people too if you don't wish to share anythng publicly. How many miles? Did you buy it from the original owner or from a dealer? What mod's? Price? It sure does look like a sweet bike so ride safe and enjoy it.
Battery tender? Pretty inexpensive compared... I have the Harley one, it came with the bike.
Seat? Craigslist, the adds here and so on for the seat. I have mine done to match the bike as you do, getting a passanger seat to match would be sweet!!!

Still trying to navigate my way around the site so not sure if there's a post requirement to send PM's but I don't see that option when I click on your name. The bike was being sold by the original owner who purchased it in 2006 for $23k. They are also giving me all the stock parts that were removed for the upgrade. With only 5,350 miles and after looking at used bikes at the dealership, I'm convinced I got a pretty good deal at $11.5k. Below is the ad that lists all the upgrades.
MINT CONDITION, COMPLETELY UPGRADED HARLEY, 5350 MILES, COLBALT BLUE AND WHITE. CUSTOMIZED, TOO MANY TO LIST. CUSTOM LEATHER SEAT, UPGRADED FLOOR BOARDS, SAMSON FISHTAIL PIPES/EFI RACE TURNER KIT, ENGINE GUARD, W/S STD CLEAR, UPGRADED TEAR MIRRORS, UPGRADED CHROME GRIPS, CHROME MASTER CYLINDER, CHROME SWITCH HOUSING AND CHROME BRAKE SWITCHER. LEATHER "GET BACK WHIPS" CUSTOM POWDER COATED WHITE AND BLUE SPOKES. ENGINE SIZE 1450cc/88 CUBIC INCHES. BLUE LED ACCENT LIGHTS, CHROME SWING ARM.
Welcome to the softer side of life.
I think that's not a bad price for a bike that has less than 6K on it.
Your going to love riding it, softies are really nice riding bikes.
Not crotch rocket fun, but its still a lot of fun being able to comfortably cruise along while you 'smell the roses' as it were.
A battery tender is not a big thing and most decent auto parts stores sell decent ones for under $50.
Just don't get a case of the cheaps and visit Harbor Freight for one.
Yes they sell them for next to nothing.
But I don't think anyone should trust their ride's electrical system to a 'cheap' tender.
Too many times going the cheap route ends up costing way more in the end.
I have had my "battery tender junior" for several years without any issues. It has been on my last three bikes and serves me well. Definitely extends battery life.
