Default High Idle (Sometimes)

I have a 2006 Softail Springer 88 CI sequential Port Injection. All stock except Vance&Hines exhaust. Problem is that when coasting up to a stoplight & I pull in the clutch lever, the engine idle does not drop to "normal" RPM until I come to a complete stop. While I am still rolling, the idle hovers around what sounds like 1700-2000 RPM instead of the "normal" 900-1000 RPM when the bike is motionless.
Hoping someone has some ideas on how to troubleshoot/fix this...

Could be a couple different causes but my first guess would be a faulty Vehicle Speed Sensor. It's located on the tranny and sends a signal back to the ECM via the speedometer. Sometimes removing and cleaning it can help. My second guess would be the Throttle Position Sensor.

The Idle Air Control Valve often fails but its failure normally has the reverse affect whereas the bike would idle very low, roughly 500 rpm's when coming to a stop.

What ECM/ECU are you using? I had a similar problem recently on my Heritage that I have a Thundermax in. I had the wrong map loaded for my TB, and the speed calibration was also messed up. Fixed those issues and the high idle went away.

Default Thanks for the info

olongapo1 -- I will check the speed sensor & TP sensor.
jmr1971 -- The bike had a non-stock ECM when I first bought it, but it had problems, so we put the stock ECM back in it. I will have the local Harley dealership verify the profile...

Thanks to you both for your suggestions!

Your ECM issue was a piece of the puzzle I didn't have when I posted my first response. If it were my bike, I would have Harley re-flash the ECM with a stock MAP prior to troubleshooting the idling problem. It will cost you a few bucks but you'll have a "Known Good" starting point prior to troubleshooting and tuning.
