Default Adding ABS, anyone done it?

Yesterday yet another person pulled out in front of me causing me to skid and nearly dump my bike. It is a 2010 Fatboy and I believe that ABS was an option for that year but was not OEM installed on my bike. Can one simply get the parts and retrofit an ABS system onto a bike?
Thanks...

What was the answer you found ? That it would be easier to trade your bike in for one that already has ABS?

To retrofit a bike with ABS is very cost prohibitive.

When I looked into when I had my 09 road king I searched and call every Indy shop I could and was told the same thing. They do not make an aftermarket ABS system because they are specially made and test for each bike from the factory and it is too much of a liability to make an aftermarket one to be retro fitted to a motorcycle that never had ABS. I of course traded in my road king for an ultra limited (which came standard with ABS), than I traded the limited in on the two softails I have now and both have ABS and it works GREAT!!

Yes indeed, the ABS works very good. It has saved my butt a few times. Highly recommended!!

It would be nice if they did make a aftermarket system. There would certainly be a market for it.

I was hoping that since my model was available with factory ABS that the programming would also be there unused and all that I would have to do is to bolt on the factory hardware and be good to go. Sort of like the tachometer feature on the speedo/tach combo that I installed last week. I guess that it is not that simple.

there's a lot of stuff that goes into ABS. I bet it could be done...but man, the cost. Even the bearings are different.

Anybody try this? Sounds too good to be true, but would be pretty sweet if it works.
