Default Softtail custom VS Dyna

Im curious for input. Had a 91 FXRS(P) and now have 07 FXSTC. Seems lot of opinions that rubber mount is better. Im not convinced. Your thoughts appreciated.

I owned a 91 FXSTC and a 93 FXLR. I loved both and would love to see them in my garage right now. If I had to chose I'd probably take the FXLR only because it's becoming collectible. They both rode the same in my view, vibrated the same, same motors/trans, just different frames and two totally different looks.

Yeah--thanks for the thoughts. I honestly don't see a big "ride" diff although the rubber mounts seem to be in favor of that. Biggest diff I see is slow speed and corners and turns with softail custom's extended front end. It does feel like a longer bike.

In regards to the frame mount counter balanced engine I actually like the rider feedback that gives. Much different than a rubber mount. And I don't find "vibrations" to be an issue at high highway speeds or at a stop.

Curious why so many rubber mount people think that's better? What am I missing?

I'll use my old analogy. That's like askin' which one of Jenny McCarthy's **** do you like better ...the left or the right?

I have a rubber mount and a balance shaft, love 'em both, wouldn't want to have to choose.

The dyna frame inherently has a little more cornering clearance than the softails, and it's easier to adjust the shocks on most Dynas. Don't know that there's a lot more to say.

LOL. Cept in this case one's rubber mounted and one's rigid.

Yeah, maybe we should ask for clarification of the question. I took it as being between his current 07 softail and a current rubbermount.

Yah. That is it exactly. And specifically the custom softail vs basic dyna. Heard a lot of chatter bout rubber mount etc but I surprisingly don't feel much diff in favor of rubber mount. In fact, I find I kind of like the balanced vs rubber.

And opinions on custom's small front performance? Personally like the look. Putting my brain to work, I'm thinking the width of tire doesn't actually increase contact patch. Anyone anyone Bueller Bueller??? LOL

Who says rubber mount is better - that's purely an opinion. Maybe in drag racing where a swing arm is needed.

I've had them both a 2010 Road King that was literally shaking itself to death
(got rid of that thing). Had it a about 18 months never did like it.

Found a 2008 FXSTC really like the balanced motor and smoothness along with the low seat height - it's a keeper for me.

One other thing I had a 09 VRod that had a combination rubber mount
along with balanced motor. Great combo no vibration....but UNCOMFORTABLE!

IMO, most people who swear they would never own a Softail have never even ridden one. People follow trends. In the early 90s, it was all about Softails. Now its baggers. Maybe the MoCo will come out with a rubber mounted frame with a counter balanced engine, and that will become the next rage?
