Default Fast Break in

How many of you forumites have used the fast break in method for yourengine builds or new bikes. If you did, any issues? It seems to make good sense from an enginephysics point of view.

I picked up my new ride Friday. Of course dealer told me not to go over 50 mph for the first 50 miles or so and then keep rpms below 4500 for first 500 mile. Within the first mile of the shop I hold hit the rev limiter in first 3 gears. Then for the next 100 miles I run it hard from time to time and never lug it.

I did the fast break in procedure. The importance of break-in is to seat the piston rings to the cylinder walls. This insures proper compression and oil control (burning oil). Romping on your bike right out of the box probably isn't a very good idea. When I purchase a new car, I drive it gently for the first 500 miles or so, then load it up and go pull a mountain trying to maximize cylinder firing pressure.
