Man I need some help bad. Getting frustrated with my 2010 Fatboy. Riding home the check engine light came on and about 5 miles later the battery light. Did the code check and had the b0563, b1006, b1007 codes. Ended up replacing the voltage regulator after performing the diagnosis in the electrical manual. Now intermittently the lights come on but there are no codes. looking at the electrical manual it indicates there could be a speedometer issue. Has anyone run across this before?
I really want to ride but man I don't want to get stranded.
Thanks for any help!
I don't know how long you rode it after replacing the voltage regulator, but it does take some time before the codes will come back. I think on my 2009 Fatboy its 50 miles.
I had those symptoms when the stator was failing. The lights for low battery come on when the voltage is low for more than 5 minutes. When I was on the freeway, the revs kept the stator producing enough power, but getting to the freeway and home I would sometimes get the low battery code.
I would check the voltage across the battery posts at idle. It should be around 13.5. If it is not, but it rises to that level when you bring up the revs, you likely have a bad stator.
Usually, Usually...the voltage reg will fail. It wont be a gradual thing. mine came on same scenario but codes showed it was low voltage. checked battery connections...wire lights went off.
Clean and tighten battery cable ends, before doing anything else. Next suspect would be the battery itself, next suspect would be the stator. Do you have any aftermarket stuff, tuner, apes, stereo's, lights? Any recent mods?
I'm going back to basics, the battery connections are clean and tight but only getting 12.1 volts across the battery with no increase with rpm. I find it hard to believe the new regulator is bad but I've seen stranger things. Will check the stator and go through the basic electrical system check maybe I missed something. It is strange that there are no codes though. The battery is about 1 year old and checks good. I did check the instrument panel wiring for any pinches and good connections as I did have to replace the fuel filter. Didn't find any issues there. Is the tssm a possibility? I did notice the lights seem to come on almost every time there is a left turn.

Reason: added info

If you are getting 12.1 volts, there is a problem in the charging system. It should be over 14 when you rev. You might also check the stator plug and see if oil has gotten into it.
I would expect the light to stay on if the voltage never goes up.
