Default Softail Slim Seat Help!

Okay, I bought my 2014 Slim and I love it!

I've put over 600 miles on it now just how you see it in my signature picture.

I've figured out that I LOVE the look of this seat, it just "fits" the look of the bike.

My *** however doesn't love it at all. My *** will literally go numb after 50 miles. I did a 75 mile roundtrip today and by the end of it, I was hating life.

For short trips (around town) its fine, but anything longer than like 35-40 miles, it starts sucking.

I've seen some peeps do a customized gel insert into this seat from I guess a Upholstery guy?

I have a couple of questions, where did you guys find someone to do this? Was it worth it (is it comfortable longer distances?) Or would you have rather gotten like a mustang seat?

I had a mustang wide touring seat w/ backrest on my old honda shadow. It was more comfortable than this seat, but not by much, so I wasn't impressed by them.

So any suggestions? Is the gel insert my best bet? Again I love the look of it, and I'd hate to go away from it, but my *** needs some cushion!

Thanks!

I have a Mustang wide tripper, which looks great, but is only a little better than stock.

0 - 50 miles great
50 - 100 uncomfortable
200 miles just downright painful, even painful to get off bike.

But not sure the stock suspension may not contribute to the problem.

I disagree about the mustang seat. I have both it and the lepera and the mustang was a lot more comfortable on longer trips. I was about to do 300-400 mile weekend trips with it just fine.

Well I figured out my own solution. I've found an upholstery place here in Shreveport that can do the Gel Insert for $175, so I'm getting it done tomorrow, just gotta take off the seat.

Which I needed to do anyways to install the new Captain Itch Crotch Cooler I just received in the mail.

Let us know how the crotch cooler works for you, and don't forget the pics! I'm considering ordering one for my blackline.

Well I took the seat off and went to install it, cause I watched their video of how to install it and figured out, that my bike is completely different than how its setup in the video.

Called Larry and he said you have to use the seat now, and its a real PITA to install. I can't do it until my seat is done with the gel insert tomorrow, so I'll let you know.

The crotch cooler doesn't look fun.

First of all. We are all built differently, so comfort is relative.

I took the sock seat and had it reupholstered and had a gel insert put in. Looked great but still not comfortable on long rides.

Then I tried a Danny Gray. Did not like that. Now I use a Corbin and it fits me perfectly!

Don't understand the rush to change something you haven't given a chance to get used to?

I've ridden over 6,600 miles since end of March and I have no problems at all with my stock Slim seat. I've done four and six hour rides with only fuel stops, seat was not an issue. Cruise control would be nice though!

Dwair- if you are interested at all in the mustang I'm only 45 min/hour away from you in. Longview TX. I'd be happy to let you try it and I have it for sale also!
