First of all. We are all built differently, so comfort is relative.
I took the sock seat and had it reupholstered and had a gel insert put in. Looked great but still not comfortable on long rides.
+1
But I'm not sure what is considered Long Rides , I'm good for a full tank to low fuel light on my gel insert. Stock I could only deal with about 50 miles at most.
Don't understand the rush to change something you haven't given a chance to get used to?
I've ridden over 6,600 miles since end of March and I have no problems at all with my stock Slim seat. I've done four and six hour rides with only fuel stops, seat was not an issue. Cruise control would be nice though!
Rush? No rush, I put over 800 miles on the stock seat before I put the gel insert in. I'm pretty sure I know whether the seat was going to be problamatic or not.

Just got my '14 Slim. It only has 333 miles on it. Went on a 178 mile ride on Saturday and the stock seat didn't bother me all that much. Guess I have a stock butt. It did start seeming a little hot towards the end -- it was a 100 degree day in sunny NM. I ordered myself an Airhawk R Comfort Seating System which supposedly lets air circulate. Hopefully that'll do the trick for the really long rides.
