Deuce Chrome Handlebars Installed
Seems that it is common that people are finding the stock Deuce handlebars to be an uncomfortable reach. I'm 5'10" and was stretching a bit and wasn't comfortable. So today I installed the HD Chrome Handlebars for the Deuce. I'm happy and relieved to say that it is much more comfortable then the stock bars. They are only about 1 1/2 inches closer to the rider but for me it seems just enough. In the perfect world I might want another inch but these will be just fine. Haven't done a long ride yet but the few miles I went I noticed a big difference.
Cool Crusher. Now you KNOW we need some pics buddy. Did you go to longer cables too?
Maybe you could get a seat to move you up that extra inch. I know the Mean Street guys say they can move you up by altering your stock seat.

BoneCrusherYeah, I had to install a longer brake cable. I hate bleeding brakes, always hated bleeding brakes, always will hate bleeding brakes. But it is a steel braided cable so it looks and works better then the stock set up.
Deuce BigelowIt was one of your post that convinced me to give this a try. I'm going to wait until I'm able to get on the scoot for a decent ride beforeI decide to take anymore steps to get me closer to the bars. I recently installed the HD Sundowner seat and am fairly happy with it. Not sure I want to change that or have it altered at this point. I will try and post some PICS tomorrow.

Without a picture, I have to ask......do you have them rotated back as far as you can. I'm 507 and have a Mustang wide vintage seat and I don't have any reach pain. This is the 2nd deuce I've had this set up with the pull back bars. Just a thought.
I have been thinking about those bars, they seem popular and I am reaching. Do they crowd you in tight spots like parking/u-turns? Also I was very surprised your brake line had to be changed, that was a disappointment. What did the bars $? John
2deuce Yes, they are rotated as far back as possible. Maybe I just have short arms for someone 5'10". I just know that it was an uncomfortable reach for me. Not an uncommon complaint in the Deuce world.
flibuoy turning doesn't appear any different to me then the stock bars. Bought them from Chicago HD. Bars were $50 and the braided brake line was $40.

I have a Deuce and same problem. My lower back hurts. A guy on here has helped by showing me how he put softail standard bars on his.
Now, I'm thinking about putting wide glide bars and risers on mine if I can. I just ordered the adapters for the trees to fill in the area where the deuce risers are notched. I'm going to get a wide glide riser setup and bars and see if they will fit. If not maybe something like a Heritage riser set would work?
I have a wide glide too, and I'm very comfortable on it.
If the stuff doesn't fit, I'm going to get the buckhorn bars. In any event, I'll have to replace all of the cables and lengthen the wires.
Harley, are you listening??

OK, I just bit the bullet and I'll let you know if it works and post pics if it does.
I just bought a new takeoff set from a 2005 Wide Glide. I got the risers, handlebars, brake line, clutch cable and throttle cable. I bought a pair of the adapters for the triple trees to fill the smaller holes and create a chrome pocket for the risers.
Anybody know any reason that this won't fit my 2002 Deuce? I'm hoping that most of it does and that it will look like I put mini apes on the bike.
I have a 1996 Wide Glide that's comfortable for me and doesn't set up that lower back pain after an hour or so of riding. I can ride it all I want.
While I'm at it I'll put on my saddlebags and brackets and my chrome sprocket cover and a few other goodies I've bought like chrome clutch and brake levers.
I'm not saying that I prefer the look of the apes but I'll have to sell this Deuce if I can't fix that problem with having to lean forward so far. I'm 5' 10" and I don't think my size is the issue. It's my age.
Wish me luck and any advice is greatly appreciated.
