Default Transmission overfilled

I'm not too concerned about this, but since I'm sitting on the couch waiting for the dinner I thought I'd ask the question:

I changed my fluids today and figure I overfilled the transmission about a 1/4 qt.
I doubt there's any issue with it being overfilled.

Anyone got an opinion?

Since you're waiting for dinner, ask whoever is cooking for their turkey baster and get the extra out. You'll likely end up with a mess if you don't.

The fill in Harley transmissions are usually between 32-38 oz. I drain and fill mine with 1qt (32) never had an issue. Pulling out the excess with turkey baster sounds like good solution

That doesn't sound like a large amount. I doubt you would notice it really. I also don't think there is any way that little bit could hurt anything.

I always drain mine and put 1 quart in it. I figure that is about perfect as all of it comes out.

If worried, just drain the new fluid into a clean pan.
Put the plug back in and add the desired amount.

don't know it'd hurt, but don't think it'd help either..

I think it always best to install the Proper amount of lubrication in anything.

I have used a turkey baster several times to get too much oil out of something I've overfilled..
Just get the wife a new one and then You'll have one for the garage..

Turned out that I only overfilled it by a few oz. so I'm sure it would have been OK, but it never hurts to be accurate.

I took a empty gallon milk jug and poured a quart of water in it.
Then took a sharpie and drew a line at the water level.

I emptied the jug and cut it a couple inches above the quart mark.
Once cut, I dried it out, then dumped the oil into it.

I then promptly dumped the oil back into the transmission, minus obviously what was over the line.

Next time I do this fluid change when I buy the gallon oil jug, I'll also buy two single quarts; one for the transmission and one for the primary since they both have a capacity of 1 quart each.
That way I don't have to worry about measuring out the amount.

Damn, when will I ever know everything and can quit learning new crap!!!

, Since I use Redline in my trans I make sure I keep it between 20 and 24 oz, as the manual prescribes for my ride. That stuff is too expensive to waste by overfilling. And, as thick as it is I don`t want to risk blowing an IPB seal by having too much in there, even though there is a vent to the trans case.
