Default Lowering a Breakout

I searched and all I could really find were guys that did a Shotgun. Im not prepared to drop that amount of coin right now.

Anybody got any kits they would recommend or are currently using. Im just looking for an inch or two just to close up that ridiculous gap a little bit.

Thanks

I used this kit. You have 2 choices, 1.5" or 2" of lowering. Its cheap, simple and does what you want it to do.

I'm using the Progressive Suspension 422s. Bike can be lower up to 2'' with them. Currently I lowered mine by appr. 0.8''. You can also adjust preload to avoid bottoming out.

I used this kit also with no problems. I dropped it 2 inches and love the look and the ride. It will be great until I can put the coin together to do an air system just for the adjustability.

OK, So I'm considering a SS, but am not sure due to the cost. Where is the biggest benefit? Is it mainly the ride or looks? I know it look great when lowered, but can you really lower it much while riding? It already scrapes the pegs easily, plus I have a swingarm bag that I need on the bike. Scale of 1-10, 10 being the best mod.. where does it really fit in?

I'm another one here that has the softailloweringkit on my Breakout. Installs fairly easy, does exactly what it's supposed to, and I've never once bottomed out with them in. The ride is just a tad stiffer than stock, but not by much.

There are guys that sing the praises of the SS, and I'm sure it's a fantastic product, I just didn't want to spend that kind of money on shocks yet, and I don't have a need to change the height of the rear end regularly.

Do you need to do anything to the front end? If not so you notice the riding angle much?

Lowering is a thing I'd give strong consideration to. If you are short, then it makes some sense. But absent that, lowering your bike is only going to decrease and limit your bike's handling potential. I have an 07 softail custom and don't ride that aggressive IMO. Yet still, I do get sparks on the corners. And I still have a half inch chicken strip on the rear tire. If anything I'd stretch, rake and raise the bike bout an inch. Doing that would allow me to use all the tire and corner more aggressively.
