2007 Deuce ONLY. Has anyone installed a tach on their 2007 Deuce? The 2007 has a different coil and ignition from other year Deuce bikes. If anyone has, what make, style, etc. and how was the install?
Do a TACH install search.
Most of info should be still the same. Just a matter of getting to wires and suchand getting the tach lead hooked in. If you're EFI there are plenty of directions for that on this site. Tach lead should plug into empty slot in harness at Speedo or plug that goes into computer. I know my service manual shows this and I have a 05 night train ( carbed)
As a matter of fact I'm putting an autometer tach on my bike this week and using all info I searched on the forum.
Not that simple. The 2007 has a whole different type coil. No positive and negative terminals. I originally had a tach made by Baron but sent it back as they were unaware of the change on the Deuce and their instructions didn't apply. They are working on a solution now. In the meantime I'm exploring other alternatives for tachs.
Sorry to revive such an old post, but I just installed a Baron tach on my 07 deuce. I tried searching for information, and found this old post. If anyone needs help, glad to share what I learned. PM me for the info.
Frank
I installed one of the speedo/tach combos on my 07 heritage, works fine, simple to install. The tachs on these new bikes are not really tachs as we used to know them. They are a microcontroller sitting on the data line that runs through the bike. If you have a service manual take a look at the wiring for the speedo and tach, they both connect to the data buss. I can go into more detail if you want.
